2 Cae Mattw Reviews

We had a lovely weekend, the accommodation was perfect for four friends celebrating a birthday. The main oven didnt work but we cooked on the hob and used the small oven. The metal chairs on the balcony need replacing as they are rusty but everything else in the house was good quality, clean and the kitchen was well equipped. We would definitely visit again and recommend it to others.
We had a wonderful stay at cae mattw . . loved the upside down of the property and a lovely touch with a welcome card and a bottle of wine .. it has wonderful views over towards the coast .. our dog loved to be out on the balcony just watching the world go by .. the place was very clean .. had everything we needed .. the best nights sleep Ive had in a long time .. loved the ensuite wet room .. fantastic shower a very peaceful village .. we definitely recommend the village shop .. very friendly and pretty much every thing you need .. I would definitely stay again
Christine
We had a lovely stay at the property However it was spoilt due to the noise from the freezer constantly buzzing And the en suite toilet was constantly running water and making a woosh noise making it difficult to sleep . And also I find it a bit unusual that we had to go and buy our own toilet rolls and washing up liquid Otherwise we enjoyed our holiday
This was our first visit and the accommodation was warm, welcoming and stylish with all amenities needed for a winter break. We needed to contact the owner over a minor matter and she was extremely responsive and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you
This was our second time staying at 2 cae mattw, located in a lovely little village and great location for visiting north wales, plenty of space on the drive for our 2 cars, big secure garden for our dog. We felt happy to let her out to roam knowing she couldnt get out! couple of maintenance issues raised with the owners and they were getting them sorted the day we left, instructions for the oven would be very handy! Its not rocket science but we couldnt figure out how to get the main oven to work! The oven and en suite shower could do with a little more attention on the cleaning side, the tap in the family bathroom was dripping as it was last time we stayed! A suggestion for the twin bedroom would be to have zip link beds as this would be more suitable to be made into a double bed if you are staying as two couples like we did , with there being 3 tvs within close proximity to each other a suggestion could be to have one of them in the twin bedroom, all in all we had a great time and an enjoyable stay, we would book again in the future . Thank you for the wine and card on arrival!

The upside down cottage was brilliant, wonderful views to the sea and wind farm ... The upside down cottage was brilliant, wonderful views to the sea and wind farm at Rohs on sea a fab cafe Sun and Stars which is on the front at Rohs
Beautiful property in a lovely little village, about 20 mins drive to the promenade. The property has lovely views with all quality furnishings. A lovely welcome of card and wine which is a kind touch. My only suggestion would be to move the bench around the back so you can sit out the back and also a plastic mat for the dog bowls, none of which affected our stay at all. Would highly recommend and would return again thank you

Property was gorgeous. Had everything you would need and more. Nice location. Although a few thick cobwebs about. Tried to clean up but the vacuum wouldnt charge. Very comfortable stay ie beds were very comfy and huge reclining sofa was lovely for families to relax on after a busy day exploring the Wales. Dripping tap and water pipes did keep guests awake in the front bedroom. Overall we would recommend this property.
The house was beautiful. Just as described. Very clean and lovely facilities. Just what we needed for 3 night stay. Only complaint would be the bathroom situation. The handheld shower over the bath is only suitable for small children so this needs to be made very clear in the description. We had 4 adults staying and we all had to share the ensuite shower. The ensuite shower drained very slowly and the floor became soaking wet.

Myself, husband, eldest daughter with 2 grandsons enjoyed a lovely week at this quirky upside down living house. The accommodation was comfortable and homely. Stunning views and within 20 to 30 minutes of all the attractions in this lovely area of N.Wales. Can't give top marks as the plumbing left a lot to be desired, leaky taps and dodgy loo flushes, also very noisy pipes in the front bedroom that kept my daughter awake in the night. There were a lot of cobwebs that suggested a thorough clean was needed. In the kitchen, chopping boards were very well used, we found a cracked wine glass and some utensils had seen better days. The hoover only worked for short periods and smelled very doggy when used. I don't think it holds its charge. Not a big deal but all these things could be easily remedied to make this a perfect stay. We wouldn't let these issues put us off booking again with you as the house was so lovely, but would hope if you have a quiet period that they could be addressed.

Beautifully appointed house, very clean with excellent facilities. Spacious and fantastic views. We enjoyed using the balcony on sunny evenings.
Property was really comfortable to stay in. The views from the upstairs & balcony were beautiful. Bedrooms downstairs were good as it was nice & cool on hot days, so we could sleep. Loved all the quirky objects around the house. Gave the house character. The gate needs oiled as it's very squeaky & some of the windows needed cleaning, but other than that everything was great. Owners were fabulous in helping us find & get back my son's work laptop as he'd left it behind.
Great property with delightful views, central location for North Wales attractions. Quiet retreat, and happy holiday memories

The property was gorgeous and we loved it, the little shop was amazing it had everything that you needed. the village was lovely and very clean. Lucy the owner was great and on hand if needed. The pub in the village was quaint but wasnt serving food when we were there but found a great place to eat in Abergele called the Harp and had a lovely steak in the Pen y bont great weather as well which was a bonus , it was just brilliant.

This was an amazing cottage to stay at. everything was just a few minutes drive. We went to the Welsh Mountain Zoo which was only 15 minutes drive away, colwyn bay and other beaches were also 1015 mins drive away. Definitely booking this again if visiting the same region again

Great property in a beautiful location perfect setting with fantastic views, photos don't do it justice the balcony leading from the open plan kitchendiner was wonderful in the evening to sit & enjoy the sunset with the dog able to roam in and out loved the upside down layout to enjoy the views in the morning & evening. House was very well equipped, especially the kitchen, & although it's quite a big property it still felt cosy & comfortable throughout. Bedrooms are a good size & all very clean with comfortable beds. Property is situated in a quiet village & was easy to find. Driveway & enclosed garden were a real selling point for me as you could unload the car right next to the house & the dog could roam securely so didn't need to be watched whilst outside. Location was perfect for exploring so many wonderful villages & beaches. The owners also left a bottle of wine & a card to welcome me, which was a lovely touch. Already planning my next trip back! Wonderful few days, thank you.
Sharon
The house was absolutely beautiful and in a stunning location and both my young daughter, sister, elderly parents and dog thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights here. The only thing we would recommend is having some bins in the downstairs area, at least in the bathrooms, but that aside it was a fantastic property.
Loved the property, ticked all our boxes location, rooms, furnishings, dog allowed and loved the set up with the living area upstairs.
Wonderful cottage with an amazing view of both the Welsh countryside and sea. Views, the photos do not do the property justice. We loved the upside down layout to make the best of the views. The inside of the property was decorated beautifully and had everything you could possibly need, the kitchen was one of the best equipped we had stopped in, and weve stopped in a few cottages!!! The beds and sofas were comfortable and clean. The cottage was located in a lovely village with a small shop and pub easily within walking distance. Although the property is on the main road going through the village, this was not a problem as the road was quiet. Very dog friendly with an enclosed garden so we felt confident to let our dog out on her own. Lots of lovely areas to explore within a short drive from the property, Conwy, Colwyn Bay, RhosonSea were all lovely places to visit within a 15minute drive. We were sorry we had to leave the cottage and we will definitely return.
We had a fantastic week, so much so we have already booked back up for next March. It was a very comfortable cottage with everything you may need. Great location for exploring North Wales.
Had a fantastic few days. Property is well managed and a great range of furnishings and useful information
2 Cae Mattw is a lovely house. The upside down thing works very well and the view down the valley to Llandullas and the sea is beautiful. It's a great family environment for open plan living but still has a nice cozy cottagey feel to it. We had a really fun week staying there. The only slight annoyance was that we had to buy tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, dish washer tablets, matches and fire lighting stuff on the first evening there. I don't expect logs to be provided I brought those with me but a few sticks and a fire lighter or two are usually available when we have stayed in other places. And I've never not been able to make a cup of tea after a long drive! I'd certainly stay again though as the house and location are great.
Amazing place! Will definitely be back
Pamela
Had a wonderful week here. The view from the window was amazing. The property was very well equipped and comfortable. Visited lots of places all within half hour an hour drive. Highlight was the forest coaster at zip world.
Theres one word that describes 2 cae Mattw WOW! from the minute we pulled up and then walked in we loved this place! There was plenty of room for our 2 cars on the drive, the garden was fully secure and a great size for our staffy Lexi, she loved it! There was 4 of us plus Lexi! and there was plenty of space for all, the beds were comfy, the ensuite shower room was amazing! Plenty of crockery and utensils in the kitchen, thank you for the wine on our arrival! The living room was spacious and comfortable, loved the comfy reclining sofa and decent size tv for cozy nights in, the balcony in the dining room was amazing to sit on and look out at the far reaching views although abit cold to sit out to long! my favourite place was sitting on the sofa in front of the picture window, again taking in the views, the only thing I would say it would be better if the picture window was all glass so the view is uninterrupted! I know you have uninterrupted views when out on the balcony but if its raining or cold itd be great to have the same view from the inside! Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our week here, we have an affinity with north wales, especially abergele which was only a 1015 min drive from the house, also not forgetting the shop a couple of mins walk down the road! It has everything you could need! the other couple suggested a tv in the twin room instead of the dining room would be a good addition as we didnt always want to watch the same things! we will definitely be booking again in the future!
Amazing holiday home , so spacious and clean with stunning views, perfect location to get about North Wales. Our family had a wonderful week would highly recommend.
Phillip
The property is a delight, spacious well laid out and excellent views. The owner is easy to talk and work with. highly recommended. The local pub is friendly and the food is fine bit hit and miss with availability If your a real ale man you're in luck.
Richard
Had a fantastic short break in this wonderful property. The house was clean and very welcoming with all or needs catered for. Ideal location for trips into Llandudno & Conwy. Would definitely recommend. Thanks to the owners for a great stay.
George
Lovely cottage, everything you need, amazing view. Location great. Would go back.
We had a lovely few days at Cae Mattw. Set in a lovely little village that has a very well stocked general store and a public house all within walking distance. The 3 bedroom house was clean with comfortable beds that all had lovely fresh bedding. Although the Garden is secure it is a mess, the grass needed cutting and weeds everywhere, we found it difficult for our toddler to play out in it! In addition the house has a lovely balcony that takes in the stunning views but this was filthy, the little bistro table and chairs had to be scrubbed before we could use it, and had a plant pot full of cigarette stubbs. The property is an ideal base for visiting the coastline all within a few miles. It was also well stocked with plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. It has all the white goods you would need although we didn't use any except the fridge and hob as we eat out for the duration of our stay. We ate in the local pub the Wheatsheaf just up the road but we were not impressed with the food and they ran out of both red and white wine! We opted to eat at the Black Lion 3 miles up the road in Llanfair TH. The food there was gorgeous and had a well stock bar but you do need to drive to it! The owners left us a lovely little welcome pack and a card which was a nice touch. The house and location is perfect for using as a base to visit other places and would recommend it but it does need some improvements outside to make it a very comfortable stay.
Michaela
Really enjoyed my peaceful week with a lovely welcome food package awaiting my arrival. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has every comfort with a well equipped kitchen. It has a wonderful view being taken advantage of with the upside down living arrangements. The house was warm and the log fire not needed but just nice to have lit. The locals are friendly with the shop a few minutes walk away. The owner responded very quickly to one small enquiry and I would recommend the property.
A beautiful property. The fixtures and fittings are lovely. We were left a welcome pack that had bread, butter, milk and eggs. There were also tea, coffee and sugar and other cupboard stock. The house was lovely and warm. The view is amazing and the little settee in front of the window was so nice to sit at. The beds are comfortable and clean. The WiFi was great and the living room settee had an added bonus of reclining. Parking was easy and very spacious. We had a great time.

This was the first time we'd opted to go away from an hotel stay in favor of a cottage & were delighted we did! Cae Mattw both met & surpassed our expections.... a real home from home property, beautifully set up with everything you could possibly need & stunning views to die for. location was perfect for what we had planned we were perfectly placed centrally. From early morning beach walks with the dog while our teenage children slept in building up enough energy to go tour the magnificent castles, beaches, historic landmarks & the high octane Zip world! As each night drawn in we sat in peace & tranquility gazing out the large windows with a glass of wine. we've already recommended the place to several friends & would definitely revisit ourselves in the future. Our dog was very disappointed on our return having to swap beach walks to being back pounding the pavements.

This is a lovely property in a great area, and this was the 3rd consecutive year we booked , but this time there were a few issues which significantly impacted comfort and have been raised in previous reviews dating back some months, but sadly not rectified. You cannot get hot water in the main bathroom, the water runs warm for only a few minutes. The switch that changes between tap fill and shower head on the bath is broken, so you cannot get water from the tap, only the hand held shower. The ensuite wet room shower drains very slowly, after 3 very quick showers the water was almost to the door, and the water was cold by then end of the 3rd shower. We contacted the owner and were advised to turn the heating down in order to get more hot water. We attempted to alter the thermostat, but it didn't work as per the instructions we eventually found in a drawer. On the 2nd morning we had no heating and the house was very cold. Again we made the owners aware and the only response received was that it seemed they needed to call a plumber. We had booked for 3 nights, but did not stay for the 3rd. We were left very disappointed having enjoyed our previous 2 stays and won't be back next year.
Natalie
Such a lovely holiday cottage, we really enjoyed our stay. We were lucky to have a couple of really nice days, and the views from the sitting area were fantastic. The garden was secure for our dog, and we even managed to save a couple of pears from going to waste The Wheatsheaf Inn is less than a 5 min walk away and definitely worth a visit.
Nicola
An amazing house very modern great views lovely and clean had everything we needed
Natalie
Beautiful house, lovely views, my family and I had a lovely time, very thoughtful welcome pack
This was third visit love the house and village. Stayed at new year and in April. However we were very disappointed the garden had still not been cleaned up. Grass had not been mowed and weeds everywhere other visitors had not picked up pooh in the garden. This would not be ideal for young children to play in. Wasnt even nice to sit in the garden. Bins are overloaded outside when we arrived and no room for any more rubbish.
Deborah
Beautiful house, lovely village with friendly people in local shop and pub. A good base for exploring nearby attractions. Very good hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
