Aster Cottage Reviews

Had a lovely weekend staying here! Would deffo recommend to family and friends, such a cozy place. Perfect for dogs too. The owner was very helpful and made us feel very welcomed on arrival.
The cottage is beautiful with an outstanding veiw of the vally.
Annette
We loved our stay at Aster Cottage. Beautiful location and as others have said, the most amazing views. We never tired of it and the most spectacular sunsets. Take your binos! The cottage is a 200 year old cottage set on a hillside so has amazing character, and the owners have sympathetically kept the quirkiness, but have also added some brilliant home comforts. The bedrooms are spacious and airy with that fantastic view from the main bedroom. The beds are very comfortable. We relaxed a lot in the equally spacious lounge and, despite inclement weather at times, we were still able to make full use of the amazing decking area, loving the fact that we could watch the rain approach over the fields and dash in when it reached us. The gardens are also very secure for dogs which was very important to us. The area was lovely and friendly and it's such a short easy walk into the town for provisions and to the local eateries, but enough away from it all to be peaceful. We came here with the intention of relaxing after a tough year and we went home feeling happy and healed. Thank you.
Gorgeous cottage really cosy and spotlessly clean, had everything we needed for our stay. Lots of nice little touches including the milk and teabags, the selection of games and books and the information files in the kitchen. Thank you to Sophie who was an amazing host answering any questions really quickly. Loved the area went on some lovely local walks, really enjoyed the dyserth to Prestatyn walk and seeing the waterfall. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing weekend away and would love to come back! Thank you again!

Lovely property, especially liked the patio area sat in the evening as the sun goes down, lovely view when clear sky. Comfortable seating in and out. Everything in the kitchen you should need. We didn't use the cooking facilities such as cooker or microwave because we ate out each night. Just the toaster for toast in the morning. Decent sized fridge and freezer in the property. I would wholly recommend giving this cottage a try. My only down side would be the tvs living room and bedroom. Tv in the bedroom is only a dvd player function with no remote, tv side is unavailable due to no aerial, so no freeview. Tv in the living room as stated is an Internet tv. Yes you can watch usual programmes but you obviously have to login and out of apps. Again as upstairs no freeview because no aerial feed. Just a bit of a faff really but a decent tv. Didn't bother too much as we only watched a little in the morning before going out and before bed. Parking off the road is a bit of a squeeze to park so beware if you have a larger car. Overall though the property has far more positives than not. Nearby to eat I recommend The Blue Lion left out of the property towards Cwm about 2530 min walk. Also the New Inn in the village about 1520 mins walk. Had some excellent meals at these two venues. Also next to The New Inn is The Red a licensed cafe, nice for a quick lunch and drink. The fountain just before Red and New Inn is a beautiful fountain well worth a visit. There's a circular bus service 35 and 36 for Rhyl and Prestatyn. So, back to the property it is well presented, so if the tv isn't a big factor in your choice, forget that and give this property a visit, we'll worth it.
Lovely property in a beautiful location. The views from the decking area are outstanding . Everything needed for a comfortable and relaxed stay was supplied. Decor was very tasteful and in keeping with the cottage.
Cheryl
Everything was available to us that we needed and we were given the opportunity to contact the Owner to discuss anything else we may have needed. The property was in the ideal location for us. Local shops were enough for us supermarket, pub, cafe, pharmacy and anything that required a drive was a short distance. The views from the cottages are beautiful. You can see the sea and being on the mountain side we were able to see the sunset every night. Keep in mind that it is a mountain so those that struggle with climbing steep stairs could struggle but I expect you wouldn't pick this type of location. The parking is for an average car. Our car is quite big but once all passengers were out we were able to tuck it in very close to the wall and there were no issues with people needing to drive pass. The cottage is made of stone so luckily was nice and cold as it was hot during our stay. We had one cold day but there is central heating and an electric heater the one that looks like a log fire available which soon warmed us up. It was lovely that they had a bath especially as we have a toddler who doesn't like showers. It was all suitable for him and there was also a baby gate available. It's definitely dog friendly. The front and back garden was secure enough for our little dog. She happily made her self at home. She loved looking out the window upstairs but we were not comfortable with opening them incase her or our toddler tried to climb out onto the lower roof. This is not a negative on the cottage, more for the people staying to be vigilant if you have children or pets and keep the windows open. There is a park next to the school which was a lovely find. Dogs are not allowed in the play area but there is a grassy area that they can play on. Signs are clearly marked. We would love to return to the cottage and the little touches such as milk, tea cakes, jams etc were such a lovely touch. Having towels and linen included was ideal especially when you're having to bring so much stuff to ensure you've got everything your toddler needs! Thank you so much Sophie for such a fantastic stay.
We had a lovely stay at Aster Cottage, in North Wales. The cottage is beautiful, with lovely furniture and decor. Everything you need to enjoy your stay. The views from the balcony are stunning, great for breakfast in the morning and sitting out in the evening. The location of the cottage is close enough to explore a lot of places in North Wales. If we go back to North Wales again, we would definitely stay in Aster Cottage.
We found the property clean and the view was amazing. Due to its location, it is difficult to get toa steep road and a tight turn and our car was slightly too big for the car parking space provided but all this was worth it for the views. Our main gripe was the bedmy husband and I have a combined weight of less than 20 stone and the metal bed frame squeaked every time we moved which became very annoying and kept us awake. Another improvement would be to fix the bi fold windows as currently these are not in use which is a shame as this is the best feature of the property.
Beautiful cottage. We really can't fault it. We are just a tall family and some of the beams were a bit low but you expect that in a cottage!
Elizabeth
Our second stay at Aster Cottage and it could not have been better! . Beautiful weather, we love the location and Sophie is an amazing host!. Already looking at dates for next year. 1010. Thank you
Aster cottage is in a wonderful setting, with gorgeous views of the sea and mountains in the distance. We had such an enjoyable and relaxing time. The cottage was well equipped for all our needs and a real home from home. It was lovely and clean and once we worked out the boiler was really cosy and warm too. The bedding could have been better as the quilt and pillows could do with replacing. Theyre a bit flat and worn. Also the decking on the terrace is an extreme slip hazard and needs some maintenance. However this did not spoil our overall enjoyment of this lovely stone cottage and wonderful location.

Beautiful cottage stunning views comfortable but could do with new mattress but ... Beautiful cottage stunning views comfortable but could do with new mattress but everything else first rate would go back owner very welcoming and helpful
Had a lovely break away at Aster Cottage. Accommodation was well equipped, very clean and inviting. If you get chance go visit Newborough Forest and Beach on the Isle of Anglesey, simply beautiful.
Nathan
Great place to stay, would definitely come again!
This cottage is absolutely gorgeous and can't wait to return. Perfect for a quiet relaxing break and perfect for our dogs, the view from the front decking is worth going for on its own. The cottage has been brilliantly refurbished, kitchen has everything, and the bath is fabulous. The view from the bedroom is stunning too. The neighbours are nice too, I would rather not recommend this property as I want to keep it for ourselves! 1010.
Robert
Aster cottage offers amazing views, a short drive to local beaches and a relaxing getaway. The cottage was ideal for my dog as he could just watch the world pass by from the secure balcony. Just a couple of improvements for comfort would be to change the bed and mattress, the sofa probably needs repadding and the metal frame at the bottom of the stairs to the cottage tightening up. I would definitely go back there and stay.
Excellent accommodation the only comment I would make a little difficulty with stairs if your over a certain age as we were.
We had a very enjoyable stay at Aster Cottage. Sophie and Jan were excellent hosts and living next door were able to help out with a small issue with TV. The cottage was equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay. My wife mentioned there was no hairdryer so ladies you may want to take your own. I did mention to Sophie some coat hooks by the front door would be handy for when coming in wet. The village was a handy 10 minute stroll with several shops and pubs to try. Would recommend the Indian take away, very yummy. Lovely walks from the door. Would definitely recommend and have no hesitation in rebooking in the future. Thanks again guys for the Welsh cakes and treats for Misty. Les & Jan
We really enjoyed our break at aster cottage . Excellent facilities and the view was amazing . Sofie was very helpful and gave us a lot of local information . No doubt we will be back in the future . Sam our beagle loved it to . Ten out of ten can't fault our stay
Sophie was so lovely, The views from the cottage is absolutely stunning this what attracted us to it in the first place. The property had a lovely home from home feeling about it. We definitely had a lovely relaxing week.
Aster cottage was such a relaxing place to stay. We had an amazing stay. Sophie was such an incredible and lovely women to meet .She went above and beyond for us the entire week and we can't thank her enough. We highly recommend this place and wish Sophie all the best with the future of aster cottage. We will definitely be coming back x
Andrew
A sweet little quarryman's cottage perched on a hillside with a tremendous view over the bay. The owner is very helpful and attentive. The location is good for access to all the coastal resorts via the A55 and south there are lovely inland towns such as LLangollen, Denbigh and Betwsycoed. The New Inn down the road serves excellent Fish and Chips and other pub fare at very reasonable prices and is dog friendly. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The staircase within the property is steep and might prove problematic for those with limited mobility. It is however very welllit with stair lights. If you want to do your own cooking you should note that the kitchen is on two levels with two steps between.
Offered all we required for a relaxing break, views amazing would have no problem revisiting Aster Cottage in the future.
Nicola
We did not stay at this property. The area is unpleasant and very run down. The whole property was filthy with dust, grime and cobwebs. Furniture is tatty and paintwork needs redoing. Patio doors could not be used and there were no other windows to open downstairs meaning it was stifling. The layout was very unusual and I felt very claustrophobic. The door to the back of the property was extremely dirty and the steps outside leading up to a very unusable 'roof garden' were covered in moss, winter leaves and rubbish. It was a disgrace and obviously hadn't seen a clean for months. The owner said it would have taken 2 minutes to brush. Not the case. I was so upset and just couldn't have stayed there a moment longer. There is a dog next door that also barked constantly. The owner did offer to come and clean, bring a TV for the bedroom and brush the leaves but nothing could have rectified our feelings about this property. Sykes have advertised and misrepresented this property completely and it should not he allowed This cost a lot of money for 3 nights and I will never book with sykes again. Both the owner and sykes have refused to refund or compensate in any way even though photographic evidence has been provided. I've had to ring sykes several times as they have not replied or returned calls when promised. They do not want to know and I feel so strongly about how others should be warned. I will be taking this further. Avoid this place at all costs
We had a lovely stay in Aster cottage and would definitely recommend. Lots of lovely walks straight from your front door. Waterfall close by and a lovely cafe 'little Frankies' that sells breakfast and lunches etc you must try it.
Alison
A really nice cottage with good facilities . The cottage was very clean and the small touches of condiments were welcoming . The beds were comfortable with good views and Dyserth is a really nice area to explore . We would recommend this lovely cottage and hope to come back in the near future .
We spent a week at Aster Cottage. The cottage is beautiful and it had great views over Dyserth and beyond. We had to contact the hosts once about something and they were polite and helpful. The only negative points, they are renovating the property next door which is noisy during the week and on the other side of the property the dog barks constantly when the owner is out, other than that would still recommend.
We were very happy with Aster cottage for the location. The cottage was comfortable.
We have just returned from a weeks stay at this lovely cottage with fantastic views over the countryside and to the seaside resorts nearby. We visited Llandudno a few times, using West beach if you have doggies we thoroughly recommend for beach play just check tide times also has great shopping area. We also visited, Prestatyn, Rhyl, Conwy and Betws y Coed and did lots of walking each day. Good local walks off the doorstep of the cottage down rail track, in woods and also to local waterfall. Everyone in the village and surrounding area were very friendly and chatty
Elizabeth
We had a wonderful holiday at Aster Cottage. Sophie was a great host!. We have already booked to go back next year.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Great location being so close to the dog beach, we will definitely be visiting again. Thank you, Sophie x
We had a wonderful stay at Aster cottage. The cottage is situated in a beautiful village with fabulous views across to the coast. The cottage is well appointed and relaxing the only improvement would be a shower instead of just a bath with a hand held shower although due to the layout of the cottage I understand that this is probably not possible and the stairs are steep which may be useful to know for elderly people and elderly dogs! there is a baby gate though which is helpful. The local area is stunning and we visited Llandudno and BetwsyCoed which were beautiful. There is a pub YBodunig 5 minutes walk away which was dog friendly and a 10 minute walk down to the waterfall where there are another two pubs. Just outside of the village is a gorgeous dog friendly pub in Cwm which is lovely with great food and within walking distance. We found Dyserth to be friendly and welcoming and the small lane where the cottage is situated is lovely and quaint. Parking is tight but this could just be down to me not being the best driver! All in all, a gorgeous cottage in a lovely relaxing area.
This is the 8th booking through sykes and this was the best yet. we were very lucky with the weather, the views from the balcony were epic! the cottage was very clean and tidy. owners were also lovely couldn't recommend this cottage anymore and we are lookin g to book next year already.
Jennifer
We stayed in Aster cottage in October 2023,, enjoyed it so much we've just been back for another week. We love everything, the cottage, area, eating places and fantastic walks. Sophie is very helpful and pleasant

Wow what to say absolutely superb had a wonderful stay regardless of weather everything you could need to make your stay pleasurable was provided can only promise ourselves we will be staying here again of that there is no doubt thanks to Sophie and her parter for making us so welcome
Shirley
What a lovely cottage, lovely and cosy with a very comfortable double bed the single bed, not so comfy, maybe could do with a better mattress? . Fabulous views and so peaceful and quiet. Great location for walking to Dyserth waterfall and for joining the Prestatyn Way for a beautiful 4ish mile walk I surprised myself!. Safe for dogs and a lovely walk into the woods behind the cottage from the end of the road. Thank you Sophie for your help and your friendliness. Shirley.
Very well presented cottage with very thoughtful and considerate owners. Views from the bedroom and terrace are simply wonderful and relaxing. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
Joanna
We had a wonderful holiday at Aster Cottage, the perfect home from home to explore North Wales. The cottage is in a fantastic location with stunning views or the coast and Snowdonia National Park, Ill miss waking up to those views! We had a nice message from Sophie, the owner, on arrival. The kitchen was very well equipped, as was the living room with comfy sofas and large tv. The stairs were very steep, but there was a stair gate to put at the top for our toddler so we managed fine. The free standing bath is fab, although a bit slower to get ready with no shower. We ran out of gas a couple of times, which meant no heating, hot water or ability to cook whilst it was getting sorted, but Sophie was very quick and accommodating and replaced it as quickly as possible, even on a Sunday when there were few places open to buy new gas canisters. The village of Dyserth is lovely and has a beautiful waterfall within short walking distance a must see. We had a toddler with us who was a bit under the weather so did less walking than wed have liked, but had lovely family days out with our dog exploring the village, at Llandudno, Prestatyn beach front, Bodnant Gardens, and a trip to Llanberis to do the Lake Railway. Small note that many things in the area are closed in February, which we knew and planned for. It was nice a quiet! Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day!
