The Wendover Reviews

This place is fantastic. Lovely and clean.all bedrooms are a great size.under floor heating in the bedrooms.are 1st night the kitchenliving room was cold but we got the spare heaters out of the bedrooms. It's was nice and warm after that.only 1 thing was we couldn't get any of the televisions to work.for some reason they wouldn't connect to the WiFi.would definitely stay again.

We stayed at Wendover 12 months ago and at that time it was spotless, but sadly this visit was a huge disappointment. The property has really gone downhill and feels very neglected. Cleanliness was one of the biggest issues. The floors were sticky, the surfaces were greasy, and there were crumbs and food left on the tables and worktops. We actually had to clean the kitchen ourselves before we could use it. No basic cleaning products were provided not even fairy liquid, sponges, or cloths and the dishcloths and kitchen towels that were left were dirty. The hot tub was also in a very poor state, with sludge, debris floating around, and dirt etched into the sides, clearly not cleaned before we arrived. Maintenance and facilities were another major problem. One bed was broken though we fixed during our stay, some blinds didnt work, and windows in both the kitchen and one bedroom wouldnt close. The downstairs toilet was constantly flushing, and both ovens only had one glass panel each. There was no working heating in the living roomkitchen area due to broken controls, and no heating at all in the very large bedroom. All of the TVs were broken for the entire weekend, which was especially disappointing for the children. I reported the issue to the owner early Saturday morning but received no reply. Staff downstairs knew about the problem and instructed us to leave the keys in the lockbox for the maintenance man. Later that afternoon I chased again, only to be told the maintenance man had already been twice while we were out. I explained that we had followed instructions and left the keys in the lockbox, and that we were home then, but I was ignored and the TVs were never fixed. To make matters worse, there were no games or other entertainment for the children provided either. On top of this, one of the bedrooms had no towels, and while these were brought after we asked, it was something that should have been ready before our arrival. Overall, Wendover has sadly deteriorated a lot since our last visit. What was once a spotless, comfortable, and wellmaintained property has become dirty, poorly equipped, and full of maintenance issues. Standards have dropped so badly in just a year that we actually decided to leave a full day early. Its such a shame, because this could still be a fantastic place if it was given the care and attention it needs.

The wendover was beautiful, the decor is stunning! And such a comfortable stay. The bathrooms were amazing and my kids found it great that they could play their music through the Bluetooth. The jacuzzi bath & hot tub were wonderful as well. We did have issues on arriving. There is no welcome pack with WiFi details so my tech savvy son worked out the passwords to log in. The kitchen could do with a few more utensils, especially kitchen knifes, cutting chicken breasts with a standard knife was an experience. The electrics didnt work to 3 bedrooms for a few days, but the owner did get it sorted quickly. The area is beautiful, lots to go & see close by. 2 fairs and lots of arcades and places to eat within walking distance. The bar downstairs was a bit noisy but after the first 2 nights you dont really notice apart from some questionable karaoke
Francis
Great property and quick communication with owner when we needed it. Highly recommend.

This is not a property I would recommend for a family. Most of the equipment wasn't working. The patio door was hanging off. The ovens had the second glass missing, which is a serious safety issue, as someone had to hold the door down whilst you put things inout. Photos were sent to the owner, but no response. To top it off one of my grandchildren stepped in dog mess when getting out of the car. This place is all show and no go and only suitable for weekend booze party's.
Nicola
Family weekend trip to celebrate special birthdays for 2 of us. The apartment was lovely, spotless & much bigger than we expected. We all enjoyed the facilities in the property, games room, steam room, big open plan living areas. Every bedroom had its own en suite & the hot tub on the outdoor terrace was the cherry on the cake ! Would definitely recommend it
Arrived at the property to find the place not really clean rotten veg in cupboard, coffee machine blocked not working, ice machine blocked & not working. The baby gates was broken, no Internet all weekend despite calling owner on sat to sort & never did, karaoke machine broken, projector missing, dart board missing owner sorted sat, no televisions worked either due to Internet or flat batteries in remote control, seagull poo all over the patios & patio doors, ashtrays outside full & cigarette stubs in plant pots, loud music from pub. Very scruffy yard & staircase I feel this property was very disappointing considering the modern decor & lots of things not working which affect the group things we wanted to do.
Stayed here in September 23 for a long weekend which is why we decided to go back for Easter April 25 for a week. Unfortunately the place was no were near as good. We had problems from start to finish We had no kettle or toaster or baby gate as requested The cleaners hadnt left enough towels on beds for everyone The coffee machine and ice machine were useless not working The dishwasher didnt work properly dishes came out half washed most of the glasses and plates in the cupboards were dirty We had no sharp knives to cook with The televisions werent working or tuned in The washer room absolutely stunk of stale water which is all you could smell in the corridor downstairs. The mattresses need replacing on some if not most of the beds one bed completely broken in the downstairs bedroom Plus we had an issue with people using the hot tub at 3 am in the morning while we were all in bed waking us up we were absolutely mortified. I did contact the owner Emma and she couldnt apologise enough . But the outside entrance needs better security for this not to happen to other people.
Lorraine
Stayed for a long weekend with 10 girls absolutely loved the accommodation. The rooms were very comfortable and clean the lounges were massive and the kitchen was fab. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked again for October.
Suzanne
The apartment itself is lovely but when we arrived, some of the tvs in the sitting rooms and bedrooms werent working, there were bottles of empty drinks in the games room and a few of the showers were not working either. The owner sent the maintenance guy over to sort the tv in one room out. We couldnt sit in the other bigger living room as it was too cold. I then had to get the man out again due to the downstairs showersauna flooding. The owner was really nice though and helped as best she could. I would definitely recommend you check your cleaners work though before letting people in. Thank you for the later check out though on the Sunday. That was appreciated.
Charles
We experienced a few issues that we never had last time. 1 Down stairs toilet smelling urine 2 Moulds in the showers 3 mop was broken and stinking 4 Owen and kitchen utensils were dirty not properly cleaned 5 One of the rooms with office tag had no hot water. The house is generally nice if the owner can address the issues above.

The Wendover was beautiful and extremely clean and spacious . It was near to all amenities. We were disappointed as the facilities didnt work and there could have been instructions put in place. The lighting outside the building didnt work which meant that it was dark accessing the building and notices on the wall could not be seen.
Extremely spacious and comfortable. The accommodation was very well situated, with many local amenities available. The kitchen and dining area are a great size, with lots of storage available. The living room spaces and bedrooms were also all very wellsized, and the beds were very comfy. The Wendover Pub itself was also really good, and we didn't hear any noise from the pub during our stay. There were a few little issues, but nothing that can't be easily fixed the TV in the second sitting room not in the kitchen area was temperamental, with the picture and sound quality dipping at various points the blinds in the first bedroom by the sitting room were broken and lying on the floor when we arrived we placed them back up, but they're not affixed, so they could come down again if disturbed there was only one pan in the kitchen, so cooking for a large group was a little difficult at times there were a few broken or damaged items in the accommodation glass table in the main sitting room was cracked, multiple curtain hooks had been pulled off, legs on one of the couches in the second sitting room had come off we fixed them back on, but they could potentially come off again if the couch was moved some of the areaswork surfaces were a little dusty andor sticky. However, these are all minor issues that could easily be rectified, and didn't significantly impact our stay. Overall, it was a very affordable, spacious and pleasant accommodation that I would highly recommend to others.
Fantastic property, we were a group of 7 adults and 8 children and its so very big that everyone can spread out and have their own space. The open plan living dining kitchen worked fantastic for us all too, were definitely looking to rebook thank you
Had a fabulous time at The Wendover. 14 of us celebrating our friends 40th Loads of room with fantastic facility's, in a great location. Will defo go back again.
The entrance to the property is filthly , rubbish everywhere. Phoned and asked 4 times to have chemical added to hot tub , no one came. TV in lounge not working , they said they knew , they replaced with smaller one. Lots of things broken ice machine , coffee machine , outside light , glass on coffee table and side table. Good points plenty of space , great steam room , games room , location good for days out the area is very much arcades , amusement parks, pubs and not picturesque , plenty of parking.
Its a beautiful duplex apartment, very spacious and near to all amenities, ... Its a beautiful duplex apartment, very spacious and near to all amenities, televisions in bedrooms didnt work, no instructions, also needs something put on some of the steps leading up to the property to let people know there there, not the actual stairs, but we had a lovely time and would definitely go back
We have just returned from an amazing 3 nights at the Wendover. This house is beautiful and looks so much more than the photos. Each room is completed to a very high standard. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. We went as a party of 12 girls for a special birthday and the pub below was a fantastic place to have an evening out if you go with children they do allow children to go in too. It was a very friendly bar and we were made to feel very welcome. We had an issue in the house with WiFi and as soon as I text the owner she sent someone over to replace the wifi box. If you don't want to bother cooking g there are takeaways right next door and also a spa shop for milk etc. There is a huge market close by as well as archaises and a fairground. Well 2 fairgrounds actually. We will most definitely return to this amazing house.
Caroline
This house is huge! There were 11 of us and we had more than enough space to feel comfortable. We were a bit put off when we arrived, it didnt look great from the outside and the area looked scruffy but the inside makes up for it. The pub downstairs is very noisy, and you hear it most in the living room and main bedroom karaoke most nights. We did get used to it but it is noisy. We found the house was in a good place location wise for finding things to do, we had 5 children and theyve had a busy week! The hot tub was popular at the end of days out. The jet bath looked fab but didnt work, which was a shame but not a spoiler. Kitchen area was great for cooking and loads of plates and cutlery, it wasnt perfectly clean when we arrived though, and the dishwasher is definitely on its last legs! Overall we had a few grumbles but as a space and base to explore we found it suited exactly what we needed.
I booked The Wendover to have a family gathering to celebrate a big birthday, so there were a good few of us. This property easily accommodated us, and due to the overall size of the property with it's outside space we never felt on top of each other that you sometimes do. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in Towyn, and even got lucky with the weather. The property was well equipped, has parking we had 6 cars, and is handy for a walk to the beach, town, etc. Yes there is some noise from the pub below into the night, but this is mentioned in the listing, so we knew what to expect! Communication with the owner was spot on, and we even arranged early checkin to put up some birthday decorations, and a leisurely checkout. I'd highly recommend this property.
We had a lovely weekend stay thank you
The property was absolutely perfect for our group of 13 adults. The kitchen space in itself met all of our needs for socialising and we didnt really need the second living room! Kitchen fully stocked, and cleanliness a good standard overall. There is a pub underneath but you cant hear anything past 11pm. Ensuites lovely, and the decor is to a good standard. Oodles of space for everyone! My only point for improvement would be the decking area. The hot tub is lovely, but the lid had a huge amount of ingrained bird muck on it seagulls, I get it that we had to clean off and the decking area was in need of some TLC. The games room doors are really wobbly so we didnt dare go in. Overall, absolutely would recommend and would return!
Apartment was absolutely lovely large had everything we needed Everyone had their own bathroom
The Wendover has been a delight. The accommodation was very spacious and clean. We were a party of 9 adults and 4 children but felt there was easily enough room for more of us. My granddaughter is 18 months old and loved exploring the big rooms and outside patio area. The main kitchendinerlounge area is fully stocked with pots, pans and cutlery with ample seating for dinner and big comfy sofa's to relax in. It's 1015 minute walk to the nearest beach through the funfair. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the hot tub is treated every morning so is fit for use all week. Overall, really great place to stay and I would definitely recommend.
There were couple off thing like some off the beds didnt look like they been ... There were couple off thing like some off the beds didnt look like they been changed we found pair mens shorts in one bed you could put the tvs on there was no signal in any off the rooms the coffee machine need water and there was no instructions for anything in there no welcome note nothing the jacuzzi was cold when got there so took day to warm only there for two but on the upside the places was big comfortable plenty room for group I messagee we the people who owned for advise on theses thing but there message were full would stay again but communication would been good
The house has plenty of room for everyone. It is much nicer in person. We love that all rooms have bathroom. All members of the family had fun.
Charles
The place was great except for parking. The garage took all our parking slots and yet it was clearly showing that we needed to have free parking. We had to go round the premise to move things around. The pub kept locking the emergency exit which was our last resort to accessing the house. Other than that, the place is wonderful. They could do with warm up some of the rooms on the 3rd floor.
All had a great time cannot really fault it. Would love to stay again.
Jacqueline
Absolutely loved our stay here, as we were a large group the space and facilities was second to none. Definitely would recommend this property
The property was absolutely gorgeous. It has everything you need and more! Its in a great location, and with it being on top of a pub its good for large groups that may make a bit more noise. I had the best weekend staying here!
Great house was bigger than we imagined lovely and clean , we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it for a large group and we will stay again . Beds etc really comfortable, fixtures and fittings great The only thing would say is a few more instructions on using facilities I. e the under floor heating and incinerator .
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this lodge with a group of 10 adults, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The lodge's interior was beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It was fully equipped with everything we needed, making our stay convenient and hasslefree. The cleanliness of the lodge was impeccable, and the spaciousness was a pleasant surprise, giving us plenty of room to relax and unwind. The kitchen was wellappointed, allowing us to prepare our meals effortlessly. The lounge area was outstanding, with comfortable sofas that were perfect for lounging and socializing. The bedrooms were a good size, and the beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The bathrooms were large and spotlessly clean, featuring excellent showers that offered a refreshing start to our days. The icing on the cake was the nice hot tub, which provided a soothing and enjoyable way to relax after our adventures. What truly stood out was how accommodating the lodge was to our needs. The landlord was incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure our stay was nothing short of fantastic. The lodge's location in a nice area added to the overall appeal, allowing us to enjoy the natural surroundings. The only minor issue we encountered during our stay was that the TV in the main lounge had a crackly sound when we turned up the volume. However, this was a minor inconvenience that did not significantly detract from our overall enjoyment of the lodge. The other wonderful amenities and the excellent service we received more than made up for this small hiccup. In summary, our stay at this lodge was nothing short of exceptional. From the beautiful decor to the comfortable amenities and the accommodating landlord, it was a memorable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
