Hilltop Lodge Reviews

Olivia
Amazing place to stay and the most lovely view, had all what we needed. Very clean and kept well. Only thing we had issue with was the hot water on a couple days but they answer the phone very quickly and helpful. Also probably need a couple more bin bags and loo rolls for people staying over a couple days like we did as one isn't enough but nothing we can fault otherwise and will definitely be coming back.
The cabin is beautiful inside and outside. It has very high end furnishing and is done to a high standard. The bedrooms are comfortable, the shower is amazing and the kitchen has many appliances that are normally not available in other accommodations such as the coffee machine. The info on the cabin and locations of interest is also very detailed, so much so that it includes manuals for all the appliances and plenty of things to do. Few things to consider and were mentioned before Seating area whilst not the most comfortable its not bad at all. The TV is huge and has fire stick with everything required, but the remote control is not responsive. Kitchen amazing on appliances but could do with having few of the essentials already available salt, sugar, cooking oil having said that there was plenty of coffee pods for us to use. Location breathtaking, the views are amazing, however you need to be a confident driver on the single lane roads and be able to reverse if needed. Another good tip is to read the instructions from the owner and DO NOT turn by the pub, that road is awful, there is a different way. The owners tried to implement one way up and different way down system however Google has other ideas which meant we encountered two vehicles on our way down and had to reverse up hill. The waterfalls and the Colwyn beach are well worth the visit! The terrace views are stunning! We had a lovely time there.

The Good A view to die for we had autumn mists rolling through the valleys whilst the sun made fire with the clouds and the colours and shadows changing continually. Magic. Hilltop lodge is quite, well, compact, somehow smaller than I had expected. I haven't checked back, but I'm sure it is as advertised, it's just that having stayed at 150 places in the last 4 years, it 'felt' smaller than I had expected from the pictures, and to some extent the price. In reality that didn't affect US greatly, but it's worth considering for a family group. Equipmentwise the lodge was fitted out with good high quality appliances. There is a large size TV which would have been perfect for an autumn evening in.... if only there was somewhere comfortable to sit! Instead the bench seating round the table was only great for eating... so we reverted to watching a film on a laptop in bed. We also never got to work out the heating sufficiently to get it to heat the bathroom, which, added to the inexplicable lack of a heated towel rail, meant we had to dry all the towels in the living room. A couple of extra hooks to hang a dressing gown on the back of the bathroom door would be welcome too. Your first, and often lasting impressions of a place are telling. The huge majority of places provide their guests with at least enough basics to settle in tea, coffee and milk are normal, sometimes also with local biscuits, cake and even a bottle of wine. Now I know I'll have paid for it, but it really does help both physically and emotionally. Hilltop lodge is a first for us in that not only were there no basics, there was no paper kitchen towel, no salt, no oil or anything else for cooking at all in the kitchen. Not only that, there was not enough loo roll for our week in residence. And so we had to drive the half hour each way to Aldi just to be able to settle in and cook the food we had brought with us. Of course some may feel thats all part of the adventure and Im being picky, but for us it was disappointing enough that we are pretty unlikely to book through Menai Holidays again.
Gorgeous well presented cabin! We loved our little stay and there wasn't anything else that could have made it better, it was perfect. Even when needing maintenance the team picked up straight away. Perfect getaway for nervous dogs which ours is the dalmatian that barks all the time but no one minded at this and the more buddy saw the people running around he got used to it. We will definitely be returning!
We had a lovely stay at hill top lodge. It was a lovely place to relax and enjoy a weekend away in a beautiful location. Although there are other lodges and holiday lets at the site you feel as if your the only ones there. The hot tub is a lovely place to relax of an evening and easy to light and keep going. We were even lucky enough because of the unseasonably hot weather, to enjoy sunbathing on the roof terrace. Which is also a great place to sit and eat breakfast in the morning or enjoy a drink as the sun goes down and take in the stunning views. Only slight issue was the tea towel, that was badly stained and should probably have been thrown away by the cleaner. But in no way would this minor niggle put us off returning or recommending it to friends.

The lodge was so nice, and views were just breathtaking! We loved everything about our little break. We got the hang of the fire pit easily! Just make sure you follow the instructions in the book and you wont go wrong. We went to a Texaco petrol station nearby and they had bags of logs and kindling for 4.50 which was useful to know! The property was gated so our dog could have the run of outside and didnt get out. Notes for consideration if youre staying I would say make sure you bring an additional tea towel and bin bags if youre staying for more than 2 nights. We stayed for 4 nights and got 1 tea towel and 1 bin bag. Maybe if you messaged staff you might get more but we didnt bother and bought our own to make do! The couch isnt comfortable so again, if youre intending on spending time in the lodge Id suggest taking your own pillows or beanbags to make it a bit comfortable. We stayed 4 nights and did have enough bath towels, however we used them off the spare bed too. So just make sure if youre going as a family and for more than 2 nights, maybe consider taking additional towel each The drive up to the lodge was quite narrow and not really for the weak if you arent a confident driver! Id just say bear that in mind before booking we were fine but I know some might not be. They arent negative points as such, just things we would consider next time. However would go back in a heart beat. Really nice lodge and gave us the break we were looking for!
Absolutely gorgeous cabin. You really do get away from it all and the views are amazing. Cabin was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was brilliant after a day out and was really easy to light . Really a wonderful place maintained to a high standard. Absolutely recommended!
Jessica
The lodge was absolutely gorgeous, we loved it and would return!
I stayed at the Hidden Meadow for 3 nights. Just me and my two dogs. Absolutely beautiful modern cottage with a terrace. The Hidden Meadow was so quiet with a lovely long walk around Woodland Walk, next to the cottage. Owners made me feel very welcome. I highly recommend staying here. I certainly will be coming back here as still load places to see nearby. I also recommend visiting the local pub, the goat in. The lovely bar lady, fed my dogs after hiking around Snowdonia See you again soon Hidden Meadow

Would highly recommend this property, the views are incredible and the hot tub just tops it all off
This property was brilliant literally in rhe middle of nowhere and along with other lodges but it was soo peaceful and heard no one. The hot tub was lovely too!
Our third stay at this outstandingly beautiful place, perfect for us and our 2 ... Our third stay at this outstandingly beautiful place, perfect for us and our 2 dogs, very secure outside space,no need to worry about them getting out , as usual very clean, lovely shower and very comfy bed , lovely hot tub, and well equiped kitchen, just the same small issue as usual, seating area is not comfortable, you can't relax of an evening in front of the telly , we actually took a blow up sofa this time lol
Stunning location ! The lodge was immaculate with excellent facilities. Great views from the roof top terrace, would definitely recommend.
Angharad
We had a lovely stay and would definitely consider coming back. I've scored down for the following The wood you get with the 20 is not sufficient for three nights. We could see that more could be purchased but realistically there should of been enough provided in our opinion. It would be good to have lights on the steps that go to the roof terrace. The shower wasn't very clean, there was mildew at the bottom of the tiles where it meets the shower tray. It is not as private as the listing makes out, there was no privacy while in the hot tub as the hedge is nonexistent, likely due to the wind and time of year. The seating area in the Lodge is not comfortable. Despite the above, we would likely return and really did love our stay here.
Lovely lodge, seating area could be a bit more comfortable
Second time staying at Hilltop and it was just amazing again. The roof top terrace is brilliant to just relax and watch the sun over the hills.
Charles Anthony
A wonderful rural and peaceful property. Set on the side of a hill with fantastic views across the valley to the mountains beyond. The facilities are modern, very clean and well presented. The hot tub was brilliant once up to temperature and held the heat very well over night. Would I stay again? Absolutely!
Amazing little place to stay. Lovely remote setting. Really easy to use appliances and hot tub. Outdoor dog wash was brilliant. Lots of usefull local Information. Other accommodation on site was also booked but you wouldn't really know. Amazingly clean.
Matthew
The stay itself was great, and the location is stunning. It was our first time with a log fired hot tub, which took some getting used to but was a great addition to the property. Unfortunately the heating didn't work throughout the stay. Not too much of an issue for myself and my wife, but it would have been an issue if we had our daughter as the small bedroom never got above 15 degrees. Apart from that the stay was lovely and we would come back again.
Cheryl
Amazing!! The place was spotless and the view was
Lizzie
We had a brilliant stay at Hilltop Lodge. The lodge was lovely and clean, had everything we needed, and the views were stunning! The hot tub was great and a big hit with the kids, We will definitely be back and would highly recommend staying here! Thank you
We had a lovely stay at hilltop lodge, the view is just amazing from the lodge and surrounding areas. Thank you for a beautiful stay.
Katrina
A lovely property in a peaceful location with amazing views. Very clean throughout and the kitchen was wellequipped. There were lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy in good weather, including the rooftop terrace and the hot tub. A couple of minor niggles were that the living room seats were a bit too firm for lounging around on, and there was a lack of places to hang towels to dry we didn't have an airer, but didn't get round to asking for one either, but we had a lovely stay here.
This was our second year staying in the Hilltop Lodge. Property is lovely and the views are even better. The Hidden meadow is a wonderful place to stay and the staff are very friendly and came and sorted out whatever we werent certain on tvwifi whilst we were there. Very quiet and relaxing surroundings and has everything you need.
We had a lovely, peaceful stay at Hilltop. The property was clean and most things were thought of. David was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. My only recommendation would be to have a washing line or airer to dry the washing on as hanging it on the balcony didnt work very well. We will return
Isabelle
What an amazing stay! The location is absolute bliss surrounded by rolling fields, wildlife and stunning views. The roof terrace is perfect for breakfast and sheep spotting! Very well equipped stay, the only thing we were missing when we arrived was a dishclothsponge so we could wash and clean up, but other than that everything else was provided. The hot tub was amazing to recover in after our Yr Wyddfa climb. We didn't go out locally but saw some lovely walkshighlights close to the chalet too to explore next time. Already thinking about when we can go back, I can't recommend this stay highly enough! If you want to switch off and truly unwind, this place is heaven.
Throughly enjoyed our stay at Hilltop Lodge. A welcome pack on arrival with all the local attractions, pubs, takeaways etc.
Nicola
This holiday lodge is absolutely amazing! The location is perfect, the lodge is stunning and we had such a lovely weekend away. The views alone are worth the visit . The price we paid was extremely reasonable given the quality of the lodge. Taking everything into consideration, we loved Hilltop and we will definitely return. If I had to find just one bit of feedback for improvement and I know it has been raised on previous reviews, but the seating area in the living room is far from ideal. After a lovely romantic day taking a walk and going into the hot tub, it would have topped it off to be able to snuggle down with my partner on a sofa in front of the tv with our feet up. Thats currently impossible given the current seating in the lodge living area. But it didnt spoil the holiday and so I pass my thanks onto the owner & Sykes Nicola
Property is absolutely wonderful and loved the hot tub and the roof terrace though the facilities were not up to standard and did spoil our time there. The shower would not give hot water and on the first day we noticed if you flushed the toilet the shower would temporarily work then go freezing cold again. We were given no welcome pack physically or electronically so we had no idea how anything worked. I had to contact Sykes cottages who were absolutely lovely and wanted to get the matter sorted though when it was passed onto the owner she was nothing but rude. She stated, You coped all week like this, Im sure you coped one more day. She said a caretakers number was left in the welcome back to which I replied there was not one and then she said well we did email one which they didnt. Phone call with the owner left me crying, but I cant thank Sykes cottages enough for being so understanding and giving us compensation that the owner refused to give. Despite the property being gorgeous, I would not recommend to go here based on the rudeness of this owner.
Kenneth
Very very very nice it was just what the doctor ordered beautiful scenery and views to die for came home sooooo relaxed. The only thing i found wrong was it needed a tv in the bedroom so i could watch the red army play towards promotion.
Victoria
Absolutely beautiful setting and a luxurious living space! 1010
We stayed at Hilltop lodge in November 22 for a week and also in December 22 for the weekend. Absolutely fabulous location, stunning views from the roof terrace. Relaxing in the woodfired hot tub was a dream. David who is the go to person on site was very friendly and helpful, responding to queries immediately. I would definitely recommend this luxury retreat and look forward to returning.
Hannah
Really enjoyed our stay here, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed and the place was very clean! Our 2 dogs loved having the freedom and the ground staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would say was about the seating, would be nice to have a large comfy sofa as the seat benches werent too comfy. Would definitely recommend to others and conferring coming back next year also!
Lovely location and amazing view to wake up to every morning. However, it wasnt very well equipped in the kitchen. There isnt much storage at all in the bed rooms so I would recommend backing light. The bed sheets were stained but this was sorted fairly quickly the next morning. The hot tub is lovely once you know how to get it started, the instructions dont mention that it takes hours to heat up on the first time but after its lovely, just be ready to be running out every 10 minutes putting another load of logs on. It does stay warm so it doesnt take as long to get to temperature after the first heating of the water. The seating area isnt comfortable. Personally I wouldnt say this is a 5 tick accommodation.
The holiday was out standing with views that was amazing as well The bed was so ... The holiday was out standing with views that was amazing as well The bed was so comfortable it was unbelievable Hot tub has to be be one of the best I've been in Only minor fault was the seating in the living area Was like sitting on a public bus But all in a lovely place to stay and would go back in a heart beat This will take some beating
Jeanette
