Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
The first-floor games room has table tennis, books and board games for entertainment. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. Rhaeadr Dyserth Waterfall is a short walk away with picnic areas. Prestatyn Beach sits 4 miles away. The bunk bedroom has en-suite facilities but bunks are not suitable for adults. Multiple living spaces mean children have room to play.
For Couples
This property is not suitable for couples. Gwynant is designed specifically for large family groups and celebrations with capacity for 18 guests across nine bedrooms. The scale and layout make it impractical for romantic breaks. Couples would find the property too large and better suited to group bookings. Consider smaller properties in Dyserth for romantic getaways instead.
Pet Friendly
Gwynant does not accept pets. The property operates a strict no-pets policy throughout the year. This makes it unsuitable for guests wanting to bring dogs or other animals. The multi-level garden and three-floor layout would have provided outdoor space, but the owners have chosen to keep the property pet-free. Look for alternative pet-friendly accommodation in the Dyserth area instead.

Gwynant Reviews

Louise
With a big group of 17 this suited our needs perfectly Very comfortable beds, enough parking for all our cars. Lovely location with all the amenities we needed.
Lorraine
The space in this large house is great, it is well equipped with crockery and cutlery, 2 fridge freezers, 2 kettles and toasters and towels. However a few things that just spoil it.... the dinning table isn't big enough for all who can stay so just a tweak could seat all guests together to eat, the outdoor space is grubby unswept and not useable. The utility again grubby and you wouldn't want to use. The place is knocked about and dated but given cost this isn't an issue because for something well maintained and uptodate you'd pay more. With a bit elbow grease and effort to outside and diner it could be much better experience.

Really well located and is great for a large family holiday All rooms on first ... Really well located and is great for a large family holiday All rooms on first floor are all well decorated but the top floor definitely is work in progress but don't let it stop you staying and did note they are only opened up if needed Everything in kitchen had been updated as promised and TV's all worked I would definitely stay again though if it was still the great value price it was when we visited and only giving it a 4 star as we did use the top floor and it was not as nice as the newly decorated bedrooms, If had not used would have been a 5 star
Had a nice stay at Gwynant for a family gathering. Has issues but overall we just worked around them. Its in an area that has plenty to occupy adults and children alike. Many of the issues previously mentioned in reviews are still apparent do not seem to have been addressed. It seems that owners are injecting money into property new carpets etc. Main issues for us The size of the kitchen, too small for number of guests Water pressure was low causing issues if more than one shower being used simultaneously Access to garden which needs to be upgraded as it is very dangerous and is a Heath and
Lovely location, lots of parking and comfortable furnished. A great space for a large family and friend catch up, we had a group of young children and adults. Loved the bar as you walk in! A number of lights and equipment didn't work, none of which we critical for our stay.
Nice property, plenty of space. Nice surroundings.
A fabulous property that met all our requirements. As a large group travelling to meet from all over the UK was easy to reach, plenty of parking and most importantly a great space to enjoy and celebrate. Great facilities within the property and an easily reachable host who was also fantastic
Another amazing week at gwynant. Everything you need is there for your stay.owner is always there if you have any queries. Will be booking again soon .house was lovely and clean and fresh.beds were all comfortable and plenty of crockery and cutlery for us all.
The property was huge and the views to the front were beautiful. The heating was not on when we arrived and it took some time to get the house warm. The dining room was the best room in the house and we thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas dinner in this room . The biggest disappointment the photos are very deceiving was the kitchen. It was very small, poorly designed and definitely not big enough to cater for a large group. Despite this, we were only a small group,we thoroughly enjoyed our week away over Christmas. The house was well decorated for the festive period.
Just had an amazing week in gwynant house was lovely and clean everything was there to help us enjoy our stay. Weather was quite good did not have to contact owners has no issues with property all beds were lovely and comfortable full instructions in welcome pack in hall looking forward to our return in January for another family get together will definitely be booking again for summer thank you

Had a 3 night stay with family and friends. The property offered ample space to accomodate our large party and we enjoyed our long weekend. The house is a bit tired as has been mentioned before but was clean and comfortable enough for our needs . Nice to have ensuite facilities in every room. The top floor shower still does not work, also the TV in main lounge. Would have expected them to be sorted as not a new problem going by previous reviews. Downstairs wet room and toilet is a bit dark and dingy. Gas cooker in kitchen does not work and is dirty detracts from an otherwise nice kitchen, although might struggle to cook for a lot of people with 1 oven, microwave and 4 ring hob. Didnt bother us as we ate out. Had an ice making machine nice feature. Could not get heating on at first, despite instructions in welcome pack. Thermostat in a cupboard on first floor. Had to make a couple of calls to owner to find out there is another switch in an outdoor shed at back of property that needed to be switched on. Unfortunately not all radiators came on and had to use electric heaters and wall heaters would be usefull to have instructions for wall heaters.Didnt use the garden as the access is quite steep. Ample parking for several cars at front of house, lovely uninterrupted view at front, quiet at night and location great for touring around N Wales. Great Indian takeaway and Frankies cafe in the High St. Spar, pub and lovely butchers there too. Sainsburys , Morrisons, Aldis etc a short drive away if youre looking for provisions for a longer stay. Blue Lion and New Inn nearby for a meal and a drink. Waterfall is a local tourist attraction nearby. Overall, an enjoyable weekend was had.
Big house great location house needs being made user friendly such as organize kitchen better for example put mugs glass's in cupboard not in low down draws where OAP's can't bend down to reach them replace dirty scratched frying pans & trays repair broken TV in dining room & outside security light consider putting TVs in the bedrooms downstairs disabled toilet & wet room disgusting ! !! it looks like no care has been taken to make the property comforting & welcoming.
Absolutely fantastic stay at Gwynant for my mums 70th Birthday weekend. House was lovely, spacious rooms and we'll equipped for our very large family. All contact regarding the house and all queries were dealt with swiftly and I cannot thank the owner enough for making our stay a special one. Thanks again.
Patricia
Great location with good transport links, very spacious, well equipped kitchen and lovely views.
The property was perfect for us as a party of 10 adults. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The situation of the house is perfect with shops and pub just around the corner, lots of walks on the doorstep and plenty of places nearby to visit for day outs. Views from front of property are lovely. I think description of property should mention that garden can be tricky to access for people with mobility difficulties.
The standard of accommodation was disappointing overall. 1 Cleanliness people shouldnt have to clean their own toilet rims on arrival I think AJ did 2 The property was obviously previously a care home and this was not mentioned anywhere on the website. Photographs were unrepresentative of the actual quality. As guests we should not be finding tracking hoists, broken stannah stairlifts with open wiring coming out of broken sockets, and eulogies of dead people in drawers. There were clearly items of property and photographsclothing belonging to previous residents in the quarters we were in upstairs. Unlocked doors in our quarters too which lead to open voids in the loft space. 3 top floor shower was broken and obviously had been for some time as there was a framed sign in it saying so not use. Moreover, the gas cooker downstairs was similarly out of order. This should be in working order and operational. One of the downstairs windows was broken ..dangerous for young children. Carpeting in toilets is a hygiene issue. Outside 2 over flowing yellow bins and a shrub growing out of drainpipe doesnt create a positive impression. First time ever my wife has been so disappointed with accommodation for her landmark birthday. Fell short of any expectations.

This large accommodation was great for our family of 15 adults and two toddlers . The main living area was big enough for all of us and we also all could eat together in the main dining room. We had a couple of BBQs which were great . The rooms and beds were all comfortable. Lots to do in the area weather was fabulous so even had days on the beach . Village had lovely pubs and there was a nice park round the corner. Things that would improve the stay are fixing the shower on the top floor , sort out the hot water without having to turn the heating on, fix the oven thats not working 1 does work . We had a fabulous holiday especially for the price we paid. As for other reviews I would say if you want 5 star pay 5 star prices. Would recommend. Thank you .
Heating problems exceptionally poor late response from the owner neglected garden and terrible access dirty and tired in places with unfinished scruffy paintwork small kitchen pictures not very accurate of it drain in disabled shower was appalling worst Sykes cottage I have ever had the misfortune to purchase and I have had lots. Only thing going for it is the great location otherwise I would recommend people avoid with the broken ovenhob and broken top floor shower poor
Difficult review to write this one. The property in itself you get what you pay for, its a big property for what you pay, BUT there are a lot of issues that let it down. CONS Lighting is poor, the amount of bulbs out, the amount of redundant switches is unbelievable, Broken window in the snug, generally poor quality furniture and leaky toilets. Showers that dribble water that never really gets massively hot. Cleanliness was a bit of an issue, cobwebs in every room, seemed to be cleaned only to eye level. We had lovely weather, unfortunately we could not use the garden because it was overgrown, and had random wood, old disposable bbqs, bags of cement scattered around. Not safe for kids. We informed the owner, got an initial response saying she would try to contact the gardener, but subsequent request for confirmation was ignored and no reply. Not really what we expected from the owner. PROS Size, loads of room, plenty of parking and great location, big park behind and close to Prestatyn. With a bit if TLC this place could be nice, but as it is, you can still feel it was an old business old folks home that has been changed to a let. Didnt feel like a holiday home or very homely. We where a large family gathering and none of the familys said they would return. We wanted to give an honest review as to what to expect, as from the pictures on Sykes, we didnt think the represented the property in how it actually is.
It worked well for our group of thirteen. Wonderful views towards the mountains and coast. One or two small improvements could help. The shower on the top floor is still out of action. There was nowhere to hang your towelsdressing gown in the bedroom we had room 2 Would we come back? Yes.
Unfortunately we arrived to a cold house as the oil for the boiler had run out and this was not realised until an hour before we arrived. A variety of plug in heaters were provided but unfortunately these tripped the plug circuit on the ground floor and there were no instructions for the location of the trip switches or central heating controls. The first 24 hours were dominated by liaising with the owners staff trying to remedy a variety of maintenance issues. It was 24 hours before oil was delivered. Some rooms had electric heaters on the walls but unfortunately one was sparking and had to be condemned. We chose the property as we were a large party of 14 and needed space for everyone to spread out. The property was previously a residential home and has facilities for guests with disabilities. There is a stairlift but it only goes up half the stairs, the upper part has been removed and was found stored in one of the toilets! Gwynant has the potential to be good with some much needed investment and updating of the electrics, plumbing, double glazing and facilities to cater for large groups. There are very few plug sockets in the bedrooms, bedside lamps are provided but you couldn't actually plug them in, we asked for extension leads which were provided quickly. There is no storage for food in the kitchen other than the fridges so supplies for 14 had to be left in bags and boxes. Some coat hooks and shoe storage would be useful at the front door. The shower on the top floor was out of order and we had issues with a the remaining showers ie drains blocked, no hot water. The plumber, electrician and the owners secretary were all very helpful in trying to sort the problems for us but I imagine a lot of the issues must have been mentioned before by previous guests, so puzzled as to why they still exist. I will be writing to the owner as too much to detail here. Despite the many issues with the house, we enjoyed our weekend and the village of Dyserth is lovely. Lots of walks from the doorstep and a short drive to the Coast.
We enjoyed our stay at Gwynant. It was spacious and comfortable once the heating was on radiators in bedrooms not turned on before we arrived. Good location for walking from the house and people in the village were very friendly. Some items missing or needing to be replaced full details on email.
Situated very close to a lovely waterfall. Huge property. Bedrooms are nice and spacious. 3 rooms downstairs of which 2 are very nice and large. 1 bedroom with ensuite also situated downstairs. 6 bedrooms on middle floor and 2 bedrooms on 3rd floor. Kitchen has ample amount of crockery and cutlery. Home is situated approximately 10 minute drive away from Rhyll beach. Nice and comfortable. The property owner was lovely. 45 min drive away from Llandudno. Ample space to sit and relax on all 3 floors separate from the bedrooms. Brilliant stay.
