Woodland Cottage Reviews

We were tired when we arrived and were disappointed to find no welcome pack ,not so much as a tea bag . It was a chilly evening so we were looking forward to the log fire as logs, firelighters were provided but no matches and the gas lighter didn't work. It's a long way to the nearest shop so no fire. On the plus side there are lots of good walks straight from the door. The beds are comfortable. The central heating is efficient. The small patio garden is secure for dogs and there is adequate of road parking fir one car
Really enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful little cottage that was perfect for myself, partner, daughter and dog. Cozy warmed up nicely while it was cold outside and the walks and scenery nearby are lovely. The owners are very very nice and welcoming! Deffo recommend for those who want a peaceful time away from a more busier town or city life

Lovely cottage. Plenty of hot water and very comfortable furnishings. Perfectly located, I had a lovely run on the Saturday morning. I just wish we could have stayed longer!

This was our 2nd stay in this pretty cosy cottage. Had some great local walks with wonderful scenery the dogs loved it too, especially the woodland across the road. Friendly helpful owners.

Wow, what a beautiful cottage, and what views! We absolutely loved our stay. The cottage had everything we could need and the communication from the owners was excellent, checking everything was okay and keeping us informed with things without intruding on our stay. The cottage is in a great location with plenty to do in the area. The dogs enjoyed exploring the little woodland walk just across the road from the property. The off street parking and lovely enclosed garden was also great for the dogs. A few people have previously left reviews saying the stairs are steep, yes they are but they are manageable, don't let that put you off staying at this stunning little cottage. I'm already missing watching the sunrise over the amazing views!

Our much looked forward Christmas break at this cottage was disappointing to say the least. First impressions were good, nice views and cosy log burner. However, there were two main and significant problems. The TV didn't work properly so we were unable to watch any of the planned tv programmes we had been looking forward to. The screen kept displaying an error message which said 'weak or no signal, check your aerial and connection'. After contacting the host, he replied that the WiFi speeds were OK, but that the aerial may have been affected by a previous storm, and there was nothing he could do. All channels had the same problem. The biggest problem for us is that it took hours to cook our Christmas dinner. Even to pre heat the oven was a trial in itself, and it took hours to produce our meal. The owner's response was that it only runs on a 13amp fuse and isn't connected to a main wire so isn't as hot or powerful as a normal oven. In fact you can only use one shelf at a time! Surely this should be made clear at the outset and in the description of the cottage prior to booking. I don't think this cottage is fit for purpose for a Christmas break. The cottage was originally part of the owners house, which they sectioned off to make a stand alone cottage for holiday lets. Also , I would agree with other comments from previous guest reviews and an entry in the guest book which mentions that their child took a nasty fall, that the stairs are extremely steep, and I feel that this should also be mentioned in the description, since this could be a big problem for some guests. There is also a mini fan heater in the cupboard of the main bedroom which lacks a safety cut out function. So whilst I appreciate the gesture of biscuits and a Christmas card on arrival, I would much prefer to have had a good Christmas meal and a tv that worked.
Graham
Very comfortable cottage with outstanding views across Deeside. Ideal location for exploring the area.

It was a fabulous stay, the cottage is beautiful and very comfortable and has everything you could think of, as well as detailed information on how to use the heating and cooker. I found the welcome pack very useful, with plenty of ideas and information for places to visit. My only concern would be that the garden was advertised as 'enclosed ' but for smaller dogs it would have been easy for my dog, a terrier, to get through the gate and so I had to keep her on the lead in the garden.
Nicola
Great little cottage for me and my family. Was lovely to come back to after a day of being out exploring the area
Excellent location. Owner friendly and helpful. Lovely cottage. Only negative was ,unfortunately, the mattress on the bed in the main bedroom was not comfortable. The area is beautiful and would highly recommend.
Beautiful cottage with spectacular views, only downside for us as an older couple was the steep stairs. But that would not put us off returning as that was the only downside to what is a superb cottage.
Great stay here a real gem.
Clean, comfortable cottage. We had a lovely time.

A very comfortable well equipped cottage. Quiet location and efficient timely communication with host when required. We had two large dogs and there are many walks from the cottage and accessible woodland opposite which was ideal. The stairs leading to first floor are steep and narrow, in keeping with the cottage character, so may not be suitable for some people. We would definitely stay here again

Perfect idyllic location, cozy cottage, glorious vista from the windows. We spent two weeks very much making ourselves at home exactly as the owners welcome chalk board notice requested. We were snug and warm despite being November in Wales log burner efficient and mesmerising This was our base for exploring North Wales and birthplace of our relative 100 years ago. Stunning countryside and mountains to explore as soon as you step left out the gate. Car is however essential. Cyndi and Samantha Rochester, New York, USA
Nice cottage in a lovely setting, with the bonus of a wood close by to walk dogs. The only negatives were the fridge was a little small and the welcome pack was just a small cake. Could have done with a small bottle of milk on arrival just to settle down with a hot drink before having to go to the shops. Just minor points, but overall very happy with everything else.
Spencer
Very cosy and welcoming environment, lovely decor full of hearts and love, panoramic views, woodland and wildlife on your doorstep. Suitable for dogs as well. Our dogs loved it, especially the wood.
Just a short 2 night stay everything was spot on. Perfect area and we were very lucky with the weather. Brilliant for the children who enjoyed exploring a hidden play area in the woodland opposite, plus there is a small playground further down the hill. Didn't use many of the kitchen facilities as we ate out mostly. Helpful owners responded quickly with any questions. Off road parking on the gated drive next to the cottage.

Lovely little cottage in a superb location. Property was great for the two of us plus dog. The enclosed garden was just right and the views are spectacular. Lovely big smart tv for when the rains inevitably fall and the woods just across the road were perfect for morning and evening constitutionals. We will definitely be returning.
Claire
A warm and cozy cottage with great walks from the door. Just need to update photos!
Kitchen floor not hoovered or mopped . dog biscuits on the floor under the table , table cloth not clean , living room floor not hoovered or mopped either ? Whole property could do with a dust , the wooden beams all dusty , window ledges , light fixture in main bedroom and ceiling all need dusting . The property itself is beautiful and we had a great time playing spot the difference with the listing photos . Not sure when they were last updated The welcome book could be left on a table rather than hidden under all the magazines . The neighbours were lovely and friendly but all together it felt like a very rushed clean. Other than that It's a very cosy ,comfortable place to stay in a nice area .
Carolyn
Had a wonderful stay, such a lovely cosy cottage in a delightful location. Great walks from the door including a woodland walk opposite and fantastic scenery especially up on the Panorama walk up the road. Owners very responsive and helpful when we had a query about the log burner. Had some great canal walks too our dogs Flo & Martha still dreaming about their holiday.

A comfortable and lovely cottage ,stayed here for a week and had a great time ,owners very helpful especially clearing the ,snow when leaving, only a couple of minor comments, even though a welcome pack was left ie fruit loaf ,tea and coffees but no milk left for us as the nearest shop was a drive away and could have done with a drink upon arrival also no shower ,just a bath with a shower head attached ,They were only remarks I can say ,but great place, lovely dog walks etc, will definitely return but with some milk,ha,ha
We love this cottage and the location. We've stayed here twice now and would stay again. It's ideal for our needs and our dog Pip has loved it as well. The woodlands are great for her daily walks as well as the Panorama Way and surrounding areas. It's so peaceful and relaxing. Until next time unless we move near here in the meantime!
A lovely comfortable, clean and warm cottage, in a great location for exploring the area. Our second visit and Im sure well be back!
Lovely property and location. Good communication with owner. Lovely beds and comfy sofas. Very cold when entered property, heating was only on 17.5 and dehumidifier in operation. Luckily we had everything for log burner. Some small issues, including cobwebs at side of cupboards and lights not working. Also we had to bring all our own wood for log burner from home I found this odd when owners own woodland adjacent. Stated supplier had let them down in past. It would be helpful if logs could be made available.
Cosy, clean, well maintained cottage set in a great location with stunning panoramic views of the valley beyond. Off road parking and enclosed patio garden and every need catered for within the accommodation. There is a lovely woodland opposite the cottage across the lane, which was ideal for walks with our pooches! Visited for the first time the stunning Pontcysyllte Aqueduct near Llangollen where we walked across on the footpath high above the valley with breathtaking panoramic views below. Another first time visit for us was Plas Newydd historic house and gardens and enjoyed a nice coffee in the cafe courtyard where dogs are allowed. Another first time visit for us was Horseshoe Falls with local countryside surroundings to explore. Beautiful Llangollen itself is a must to visit which of course we did and the obligatory stroll along the path overlooking the river and great to see the famous steam train in action once again. We had a lovely restful few days here and highly recommend this cottage set in a beautiful location.
Lovely cottage with lovely views for miles, had everything l needed excepted a shaver socket, but that was easy sorted with buying a 3 pin plug. l would recommend this cottage and would happily book it again if l went back to that part of the country again.
Woodland Cottage was a fantastic place to stay. It was absolutely spotless and really comfortable. It is in a very quiet location and ideally placed for exploring the surrounding area either by car or by simply stepping outside the front door and going for a walk. Very dog friendly place as the garden is totally secure. We would love to visit again.
A very nicely presented and well appointed cottage, albeit the staircase was very steep which did prove a little awkward. Would recommend.
Lesley
What a delightfully quaint cottage. Loved the decor. Very clean and everything we needed there.Great location with lovely views. Great to be able to walk in the woodland close by.Enjoyed local walks and even further afield from the cottage. Surrounding areas very scenic.Would go back again.
There was no mention of how steep the stairs are. The cottage wasn't very clean. Also only hand held shower. Very disappointed and feel the listing was inaccurate which if corrected we wouldn't have booked.
Loved our short break the woods across the road was idea for our four legged family, Gus loved it there. Lots to do right on your doorstep the hill was good exercise. Woodland cottage was a lovely place for a break cant wait to return
Two couples and two happy pooches. We had a brilliant time! Absolutely lovely spot with lovely views! We went on two big walks which started right outside the cottage. The dogs absolutely loved it and we would definitely come again!!
