Heather Reviews

Quiet location with a nice view. Owners are nice. Pub below the property is quirky open Friday to Monday inc..
The hosts were absolutely brilliant. Very welcoming and friendly. The accommodation itself was very clean. Beds were very comfortable and everything like shower, kitchen appliances were all in good working order. The view from our balcony was stunning. The property is located 10 minutes from the local town where a good variety of shops are available. The beautiful town of Llangolan is only 20 minutes away and snowdon is only an hour away. I would highly recommend this property and I will definitely be staying again!
Lovely couple that rent this out, so helpful. The apartment was spotless when we arrived and the introduction to the apartment was s4cond to none. Heather is situated in a beautiful location. It's on a B road, so very quiet and the pub downstairs is shut on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so if you want peace and quiet, I totally recommend this lovely apartment. It's not far to the village either, for all you grocery shopping and take aways. Beautiful place and surroundings. All I could hear most of the time was sheep bleeting. Wonderful!!! Thank you so much Nick and Julia!! X
Nik and Julia are welcoming hosts. The Property is in a quite location but Drive time to many tourist sites take at just over an hour , many less. The apartment is comfortable with a nice balcony or pub garden. You do need to take care with a low roof in 1 bedroom but 4 is fine. Ample parking. The pub opens Friday through Monday. Would definitely make another visit. Thank Nok and Julia.
Lovely property in a lovely area, however the stench of urine from the bathroom was overbearing and we almost cut our 2 night stay short because of it. The smell was there on arrival and didnt go away despite us having the bathroom fan on and doorwindows open. It was so bad we wouldnt stay there again.
The rooms are quirky, accessed via steel fire escape type steps. Although the building has character, very old in parts, the flat is new build and adequately equipped, but has low timber roof beams new, 5ft above floor level over one bed and above the settee. Generally clean, but there was thick dust on the bookcase, and the vacuum cleaner was so clogged it was inefficient. Note that the pub is only open 3 or 4 days a week, and even then food is not always available.

Nik and Julia were lovely, friendly, helpful, all you cd want. It's such a beautiful spot, many thanks from us all
Clean and cosy with comfortable bed and lovely views from balcony. Friendly host and had everything I needed for my stay. Could benefit from a hook or doorstop to keep the outside door open when it's windy.x
Christopher
Thank you for a lovely short break holiday at your delightful accommodation. The apartment was the perfect size for my family and I 2 adults and 3 kids, spotlessly clean with everything we could have needed at hand, the view from the terrace was an added bonus! Perfectly situated for exploring the local area with the added benefit of being above a proper traditional pub serving great beer! We will definitely be back, thanks again.
Our stay at heather was very pleasant and peaceful the only problem was that the kitchen was not open but there are plenty of places to eat near. The owners were on hand if we needed anything and a couple of pints were always welcome in the evening we will be back again.

Having an apartment above an old coaching inn which boasts a German Flavoured restaurant is recommendation enough, before you consider the fabulous surroundings of the setting. But as you climb the stairs you notice that the balcony is not as shown in the advertising photographs. Work in Progress I was told. On entering the apartment it was spotless although some of the furniture was a little tired. The high standard of cleanliness is carried through to the bedrooms and bathroom facilities. Heating is provided by a central heating system that only serves to heat the flat when the pub is open, so when closed there is additional heating in the form of two small convector heaters. Opening times are evenings Friday to Monday, so Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you have to rely on the two small electric convector heaters. This is where our problems began! Each of the convector heaters are connected via a Smart switch which cannot be bypassed other than by contacting the owner. We arrived on Thursday 25th April 2024. The flat was warm but Nik, the owner who showed us around, failed to mention they are limited to TWO HOURS in the lounge and about One Hour in the main bedroom. There is another heater in the second double bedroom but this is connected via an extension cable that goes behind a locked door. This never worked during our stay. He also failed to mention there is a button on the Smart Plug you could press which would switch the heaters back on, for the time preprogrammed. Unfortunately for us on the evening of our arrival a severe frost happened overnight. As the early hours approached we were driven to put our clothes back on as the temperature was so low in the apartment with no way of keeping the heating switched on! We didnt know about resetting the Smart Plugs every hour for one and every two hours for the other so no sleep was possible! However, if we had have known we could switch them on we would have had to get out of bed every hour or two to do it! Therefore, no sleep would have been possible in either circumstance. At six am I thought it a reasonable time to call Nik to address the problem. The temperature in the flat was at Thirteen Degrees! I was literally shivering. I must say he popped by around eight am, rang his ELECTRICIAN WHO CONTROLLED the Smart Plugs, and asked him to reprogramme them for 247 output. Due to the heaters being of a Convector style it did take till Friday afternoon before the flat was a comfortable temperature. Added to this the restaurant was closed due to Staffing Issues. It was evident that having taken over the ownership and running of the facilities three years ago, not at the best of times Id say, he is trying to run it on a limited budget. In his favour he is approachable. He did his best to ensure all other facilities were good but I did have to remind him that if paying guests are being asked for 100 a night then he should ensure proper heating be available in the early part of the holiday season. Did it matter about the restaurant being closed? Not really as that was a bonus and Ruthin is only three miles up the road. There are places to eat there. I really do think that it should be mentioned in the facilities description that the restaurant is closed as people may turn up without food expecting to have a good and cosy meal. Not a break to remember but one that turned out okay in the end. Would I use Sykes again? Maybe. However it is obvious that Sykes take the properties on Face Value with no physical check. I also feel Sykes should look at the nonsense that forms their Terms and Conditions, as they go to great lengths to explain the Rental Contract is between you the Renter and The Owner. Sykes take a Third Party Stance. Dont be fooled! Sykes take your money so they can be held responsible for situations as we experienced.

Fantastic for a relaxing break away from city life. Will definitely be going again!
We stopped at the Three Pigeons Inn, in apartment Heather whilst visiting family. And our stay was excellent, this amazing 17th century building was comfortable and quirky which we loved. It had everything we needed, comfy beds and everything was super clean. The owners couldn't do enough for you and had an amazing sense of humour which made us feel extremely welcome. We had a family meal which was excellent the whole family enjoyed it and even the kids the next day kept saying how good it was. Would definitely return if we're ever in the area.
Elaine
Great apartment which was perfect for our family of 5. Fabulous location, especially over a lovely country pub. The owner Niks wife is the chef who cooks the most amazing German food. Thank you for your hospitality Nik. Our week was great.
The owners of the pub and accommodation have taken on a mammoth task in difficult times and are to be commended for doing so. I found Nik very approachable, friendly and helpful throughout. The apartment was spacious for two, well equipped and clean the sealant round the bath needs replacing though. The metal stairs to it could be a bit hazardous for older or less mobile people.

We had a delightful stay at Heather a wonderful place with everything we needed and gorgeous views and breathtaking sunsets. Despite missing the instruction to ring in advance so sorry Nik was very kind and forgiving. It was a real pleasure not only to stay in the property within such a fantastic pub, but also to meet Nik, Julia and the family. Thank you for making our holiday one that we will remember!
Jennifer
Wow what a stunning part of the country, views for miles! We had a lovely stay at Heather. It was lovely and quiet. We didnt use the pub and we found it quite. The town of Ruthin is a short drive away which has everything you need. We did lots of days out, Chester Zoo, Rhyl, Conwy and everything was less than an hours drive away. The property it self was comfortable and had everything we needed for a week, the only thing it was lacking was oven dishes to cook evening meals. I bought a couple of small oven trays to use.
Samantha
I enjoyed our time there, very comfortable with fabulous views. Slight drawback was having to access the bathroom through the master bedroom.

We had a girly weekend for a birthday, the place was really nice, comfortable and the pub below was very welcoming, I would definitely recommend staying here again. We have a great time, even though the chef had a week off so they wasn't doing food at the time. There is takeaways and other pubs doing good within a short distance.
Great location above a great pub.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Heather apartment . It was a unique stay in a beautiful & historical building . The pub was stunning & friendly . We cant wait to go back & sample the resteraunt delights after these latest Covid rules are over . It was an amazing way to bring in the New Year on the balcony looking across the Welsh countryside . We would book to stay here again & would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a country stay with beautiful views . Having the pub underneath is a massive bonus & the owners where super friendly and the place was immaculate . We had such a lovely cozy relaxing stay . I want to take the oppurtunity to thank the owners and wish the the very best for 2022 . Three scouse girls had an amazing start to the new year . Well done the owners of the three pigeons and well done Sykes for making I so easy to book . Everything was so professional & Heather the apartment was brilliant . A true home from home .

We had a lovely, quiet and restful week at Heather in October 2021. We found the accomodation to be clean, well laid out and fantastic value for money. The pub downstairs is spacious yet cosy and the couple who own it are very friendly. Unfortunately no food was available whilst we were there due to staffing issues but that was OK. We found other places to eat and a great Indian place who delivered a really good meal.
Good location for exploring North Coast and Snowdonia. Apartment with lovely views above a great pub made for a lovely stay!
Was in Heather for a week, had a great time. Lovely location, cosy and well equipped apartment. Nick and Julia were welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Had a meal in the pub on Sunday excellent roast dinner, beautifully cooked and highly recommended. Some great walks in the area, and a really good base for exploring North Wales.
Angela
We had a lovely week at Graigfechan. The apartment above The Three Pigeons was clean and comfortable, it also has a lovely balcony which is a little sun trap and overlooks the most amazing scenery, great for watching the glorious sunsets. A wonderfully peaceful area with fantastic walks close by. The Three Pigeons is a lovely pub which serves very good, well cooked pub food. All in all a great holiday!
Georgios
Owners were funny, very welcoming and friendly. Pub has a great atmosphere for a meal or drink. Gorgeous view from apartment balcony and apartment was very nice. Stayed with my SO and we thought it was a wonderful little getaway for a few nights. Would highly recommend.
This accommodation is amazing! 1. Beautiful location and views 2. Fantastic base to discover north Wales 3. Fully equipped towels, bedding, tin foil, tea and coffee you name it and its there. We are used to taking our own so this was great. 4. Lovely owners that are there if you need them. 5. Value for money great price for high quality. 6. Pubrestaurant below no noise and we have small children. The food smells amazing, but we didnt get to eat there due to how busy we were. Overall, book here and you wont be disappointed. We are planning our return visit.

We had a lovely stay, very nice and the the food at the The Pigeons pub restaurant was excellent too!
Deirdre
The place Heather was beautiful and comfortable. Would definitely recommend to others. Owners very welcoming and area beautiful.
Stephen
Really nice, cosy apartment Heathers, decent kitchen and bathroom, and good bedding and plenty of towels provided. Despite this being a loft conversion with sloping roofwalls, it felt quite roomy for four of us 2 adults, 2 small kids plenty of space to move around. And the owners and pub landlords are friendly. It's above a quiet village pub the Three Pigeons Inn and there was little noise once the apartment door was closed, despite the balcony being over the outdoor patio for the pub below. It has a slightly odd layout, with the bathroom and two bedrooms off the master bedroom no corridor. And some of the sockets and skylight blinds are in the sloping roof area, so watch your head when accessing them! We didn't eat at the pub, so can't comment on the food. The nearest place for grocery supplies is the Tesco supermarket 3 miles north in Ruthin. Would make a decent base to visit local towns Llangollen is 12 miles southsoutheast, the north wales coast, or even Snowdonia national park to the west. The only issue we had was with the secondary fire exit that exits into the adjoining apartment it's just a standard door locked by an electronic release that is only opened when you smash the fire alarm glass and really could do with being a more substantial acoustic door with full acoustic draught exclusion around it as the conversationssounds from the adjoining room were quite audible.
Just back from a week at the heather apartment above the 3 pigeons inn. We was met by Nick the owner he was very friendly and helpful insisted in carrying our heavy case up the steps to the apartment . The apartment was bright and airy and very clean the views from the balcony are absolutely stunning I loved watching the baby bunnies playing in the next field. Later we went down to the beer garden and met Julia Nicks wife she was also very friendly and chatty. We really enjoyed our break and yes we would return thankyou Angie & Steve
