Pen Y Bont Reviews

We have stayed in many holiday cottages all over the UK in the last 20 years and this one has to be the best of them all! The cottage was beautiful, clean and very well equipped. The hamper left for us on arrival had all the food supplies you would need to start off your stay. There was even strawberries and cream in the fridge and a pint of milk and yoghurts, all locally sourced. The beds were very comfy and the living room sofas were lovely to put your feet up on in front of the TV after a busy day out. Would definitely stay here again if we visited Wales.
Absolutely lovely cottage, lovely area. Not a thing to be faulted.
Our third visit to Pen Y Bont, which speaks for its self. Comfortable and very well provided accommodation next to the river Elwy, the Black Lion pub and a handy village shop. Ideal location for exploring North Wales. and incidentally, what a welcome hamper. Unbeatable!
Jennifer
Pen Y Bont is probably one of the best places we have stayed in, I cant recommend this property enough, the village is beautiful, views are spectacular, location is excellent, not more than an hour to everywhere you would want to explore. The house is beautiful, we would love to live there it is so lovely, well cared for, and absolutely well resourced, there wasnt a thing we needed that wasnt thought of and provided in the cottage. The hamper was lovely and very welcoming. We loved the butter and cheese, yum! Bedding and towels were excellent quality and smelt lovely and fresh. Paula the owner lives next door and was very approachable and it felt like nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely book to go again, we loved staying at Pen Y Bont and are looking forward to staying again, soon I hope!
Cottage was fantastic loved our stay, clean and comfortable, with everything you could need and more. Location great for going out exploring. Planning on visiting again.
We couldn't fault this lovely cottage and it's host, Paula who seemed to have thought of everything we might ever need for our stay. The wonderful hamper that greeted us on our arrival was the best we have ever seen! Our stay was for 7 weeks during the winter months of January and February, we did enjoyed sitting by the logcoal burner in the lounge of an evening, there is also central heating and the cottage was cosy. The location is perfect for exploring Cheshire and all of North Wales with just a short drive to the North Wales Express A55 which quickly gets you to these areas. The village was idyllic with its river setting, 2 pubs and the local village shoppost office, and a children's park and we imagine even more picturesque in the summer. Everyone we met was kind and friendly. A special thanks to Paula who made sure we had the most amazing stay, on hand if we were to need anything yet unintrusive. We have stayed at a good number of cottages and this one comes top of our list.

Another wonderful stay as we stayed for Christmas. Beautifully clean, spacious and well equipped. Paula was so attentive ensuring we had plenty of wood and coal daily. Fantastic hamper on arrival full of goodies and that also had treats and a toy for my pooch. Eggs, milk and bread also provided. Such peaceful surroundings and we all enjoyed every minute. We will definitely return again, we love the place.
Absolutely stunning cottage. Everything you needed. Hamper was the best we've had. Paula even topped up our logs for the fire when we were running low. Bit of confusion on departure time. Sykes said 12pm. On the board in cottage it said 10am. A welcome pack with information in would have been a bit clearer. Would have liked the heating to be on via thermostat as it was only set to come on for a couple of hours in the morning and at 79pm which due to weather and the storms we were cold when back earlier. However Paula did put it on earlier when we asked her. A blind is definitely needed in the bathroom as you can see shadows from the cafe and road. Minor things. Would certainly come back and recommend.

What a beautiful home! We were all so happy to stay here! So comfortable and had everything we needed and more besides! The welcome hamper was exceptional! Paula was on hand to answer any questions straight away. The log fire was all ready to go and was a real treat when the weather dropped! The little village is lovely. Theres a play park a few minutes away, a shop and a pub. Several walks for the doggies too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much.
Christina

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting and location. Great master bed, great shower pressure, well stocked. Would book again.

Absolutely gorgeous spacious cottage. Cottage equipped with everything you need. Complimentary hamper on arrival which was wonderful and delicious. Cottage ideal for family and dog. Loads of walking around the area and near the river. The small garden was just ideal, a little sun trap equipped with BBQ and garden furniture. Very central and easy to get to various beachestowns. Beautiful, quiet, rural area. Highly recommended and we will definitely be booking again.

We had a fantastic stay in this home from home cottage. It was really comfortable and we needed for nothing. The hamper, on arrival, was so generous as were the fire making supplies. Paula, our host was helpful in every way. The setting was also really lovely, just by the river, near a pub....bliss. We highly recommend this cottage.
Beautiful cottage . Full of character and as every thing you need to make your stay special . The cottage is a perfect base to see Wales . Weve stayed in many cottages over the years , the lady who owned the cottage was the best by far in been so welcoming and kind . Nothing was too much trouble . She made our stay extra special . The garden was a big bonus especially having a dog . After a day of sight seeing it was lovely to have a space were we all could sit and relax . The welcome hamper was amazing . Would just like to say the biggest thank you for sharing such a special place .

Wonderful cottage, so clean and comfortable. Everything you could possibly need was provided. We wish we could have stayed longer. Close to many good walks and situated in a lovely village. Could not have asked for anything better.
Rachel
The property provides everything you need for a fabulous holiday. The kitchen is fantastic and a wonderful place to socialise. There was a hamper on arrival which was amazing and thoughtful, even the dog had a bag of treats. The area is beautiful with a lovely walk along the river. The pub opposite does splendid food and there is a good cafe next door to the cottage. The nearest big supermarket is just a 10 minute drive away. It was perfect for us.
Matthew
Pen y bont is a lovely cosy cottage supplied with all the necessities required for a week away. The welcome hamper was very generous and truely welcoming and Paula the owner was also very helpful.

Kathryn
The cottage is perfect! So clean and incredibly comfy and cosy. Everything you need is there if you want to cook in the gorgeous kitchen or there's a lovely pub The Black Lion just down the road if you want some really good pub food. The living room is really cosy and the beds are so comfy best nights sleep I've had for a long time. The cottage is perfectly located to go to different places that are a short drive away Llandudno, Conwy and further afield. Honestly couldn't recommend this cottage enough.
Elaine
Cottage was beautiful and a lovely hamper was left by owner Paula. Also coal logs for fire, which was lovely cosy of a evening. There was everything you could think of in a home, plenty of utensils crockery. We will 100 be booking again. All residents in the village were friendly so welcoming. Olivia's Cafe, general store the Swan pub. Can't wait to return
Really lovely cottage and a great location for exploring North Wales. The cottage was comfortable and really well equipped. The hamper was so nice and thoughtful. We were out and about a lot and didnt see the owners much, but when we did Paula was lovely and helpful. One thing to note that we hadnt seen on the cottage information was that there was a high chair and a stair gate, which was great and an added bonus as we were travelling with a toddler. Would highly recommend to friends and family and if were ever back in the area would definitely stay here again. Thank you.
Very well equipped cottage, very comfortable and cosy. Better than described. Gone are the days of packing your own sharp knife and bottle opener! The beds were lovely and the hamper was beyond our expectations. We had a great holiday and would recommend this cottage 100. Thank you.
Lovely cottage, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds. Hamper was unexpected and very welcome. Well situated for exploring North Wales. Beautiful scenery on the doorstep. Paula, the owner lives next door and is very friendly and welcoming, she even offered to dog sit for Cleo. Went for Sunday lunch at the Black Lion, only 2 minutes walk from the cottage, very nice. All in all a lovely cottage.
We received a very warm welcome from the owner, Paula upon arrival. When we entered the cottage we were very impressed with the high standard of the accommodation. The cottage is of a very high standard and the care and attention to detail is very clear to see. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and certainly one of the nicest welcome gifts we have received at a holiday cottage and Jack certainly enjoyed his treats as well. The cottage has everything you need for a lovely relaxing break and is situated in a lovely location. The bedrooms are lovely and very spacious with plenty of storage space. Paula recommended a lovely local walk which we all enjoyed. Whilst at the cottage we visited , conwy, llandudno, Betwsycoed to name but a few and these were all easy accessible by car from the cottage and certainly worth the trip. The village has two local pubs and a shop so you have everything you need with easy reach. This is certainly a cottage which we would highly recommend and one which we will return to in the future.
What a lovely cottage, so clean and cosy feeling, the kitchen is fabulous and really well stocked, making it a real hub of the home. The welcome hamper was fab and just what we needed when we arrived hungry and tired on the hottest day of the year. Paula lives next door and nothing is too much trouble but she also is not intrusive at all and the back garden is lovely and private and secluded. The big beds are soooo comfortable and we slept really well even my daughters who were sharing the super king size and they havent shared since they were little. The location is lovely nestled in a valley and right next to the river, even in the hot dry weather we found a spot just deep enough for an adult to swim. It was very busy at the weekend in the height of the heat wave but went quiet in the week and sometimes we had it to ourselves. Its also only 8 mins from Abergele, where you can visit Gwrych castle where Celebritiy was filmed which is quite a stunning place despite its state of ruin. I would definitely stay here again its a lovely cottage in a beautiful spot with Paula as an excellent host, you kind of dont want anyone to know about it but I also really wish Paula well with PenyBont as its well deserved.
Jennifer
We had a lovely hoilday, and definitely returned and recommend.
Rebecca
Cottage was beautiful as listed and had everything you could want. Wonderful hamper on arrival. We were very comfortable there. Countryside was lovely and the river behind was a real bonus. Plenty to do in the area. Thank you.
Stewart
The holiday cottage was everything we expected from the details & photographs but alot more! It was absolutely gorgeous & very comfy, the garden was well laid out too which suited us well with having a dog & a lovely relaxing area to sit out & enjoy the sunny weather. The Hamper was a lovely surprise which was full of so many treats we hadn't tried before. A thoroughly enjoyable stay
Fabulous stay! Great location. Very clean
Kristine
This has to have been one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. We found the cottage with absolutely no problems. On arrival there was the most wonderful and very generous arrival basket with everything we needed after such a long journey. The house was fantastic, beds were very comfortable, it was quiet apart from the relaxing sound of the river at the bottom of the garden. It was a home filled with everything you could possibly need during your stay and as if the fabulous house was not enough there was a little cafe next door and a pub offering fabulous food just over the bridge. No dogs allowed inside, but can sit outside with dog There were some lovely walks straight from the door. The lovely owners of the cottage live alongside, reassuring to know if there were to be any problems. This house is a must stay Id you are considering this part of the country. Thanks to the owners for allowing us to share their house.
Absolutely first class, everything was just how we would have wanted. The welcome pack was marvellous, the cottage is fantastic, the furnishing is lovely, the location is fantastic, the area is simply beautiful.
We had a lovely time at Pen Y Bont. We were greeted by a fantastic hamper of food and wine when we arrived and there was a fire set in the grate with plenty of extra wood and coal. There was lots to do in the surrounding area and we had a great base to come back to in the evenings. I would highly recommend this house for its location and relaxing atmosphere.
